That nasty rightwinger, Alex Jones, is finally terminated

Did you see this? YouTube has terminated Alex Jones’ Infowars page “for violating YouTube’s community guidelines.”

Jones is the vulgar smearhound of the far right, for whom no lie or insult is disgusting enough. TechCrunch is reporting that Jones’ 2.4 million YouTube subscribers will have to get their Jones jones someplace else. But they won’t be able to find him on Facebook, Spotify or Apple, either: all three of those companies similarly have banned Jones.

Most of Jones’ hysterical rants verge on psychopathy. Among his other claims are these:

– “the government” is engaging in a “chemical warfare operation” to make U.S. children homosexuals.

– Liberal celebrities, including Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, “the football, the basketball” players, are “pure evil” because they’re feeding kids “carbon tax messages” and telling people to “hand in your guns.”

– Liberals are “scum, nazi, filth, trash, garbage, maggots…chicken-neck nellies…cancer…” led by “Bill Gates, that little murdering eugenicist…a demonic elf.”

 – “Hillary Clinton…personally murdered and chopped up and raped” children; she is “one of the most vicious serial killers the planet’s ever seen.”

You get the idea. Jones, needless to say, is one of Trump’s favorite pundits; sick minds think alike. Trump was on his Infowars show, and told Jones, “Your reputation is amazing. I will not let you down.”

I would not normally reproduce Alex Jones’ filth here on my blog, except that this is good news: the social media empire is fighting back against the extremes of Trumpism. In banning Jones, YouTube, which is owned by Google, has taken an extremely important action in deciding that truth matters, lies do not deserve publicity, and inciting unstable people to violence is not something a credible corporation should underwrite.

As soon as Jones learned of the bans, he turned to his protector and hero, Donald J. Trump, and issued a plea for help. He urged Trump to “come out before the midterms and make the censorship the big issue of them trying to steal the election.” (Of course, Jones sees banning him as “stealing the [2018] election.”) Then he suggested Trump threaten the companies with “anti-trust-busting… if they don’t back off right now.” Trump has not yet replied to Jones’ begging (to the best of my knowledge), but Jones often has bragged about how close he is to Trump.

Good for YouTube, Apple and Facebook! They are living proof that decency can be supported online, and that sick conspiracy theories that spawn violent impulses deserve to be censored. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for Twitter: that social media company just announced that Jones and his various channels “aren’t currently violating its rules.”

Seriously? Twitter’s own “terms of service” prohibit “harassment” in content, and while they don’t define that ambiguous term, they claim to discourage “abusive behavior,” especially when it’s targeted “at an individual or group…”.

Jones’ repeated, slanderous and vulgar treatment of Hillary Clinton would seem to be “abusive behavior,” but Hillary isn’t the only target of his insults and smears. “Obama has been having sex with 10 dudes a day,” Jones lied. Obama “infamously shut down veteran memorials,” Jones fabricated. Obama was “a hoax carefully crafted by the captains of the New World Order,” Jones paranoically ranted.

Is this not “abusive behavior” aimed at “an individual”? Readers, if you think Twitter should dump Alex Jones, here’s the link to tell them to do it!

Here’s hoping this scumbag, Jones, fades away into the muck from whence he crawled.

  1. Bob Rossi says:

“Hillary Clinton…personally murdered and chopped up and raped” children”
Did she chop them up before raping them, or after?

““Obama has been having sex with 10 dudes a day,””
Wow, how has he been finding the time to do all those campaign appearances?

  2. Dear Bob Rossi, you’ve picked up the inherent humor in these rightwing smears! It’s true that we can have a good laugh at their expense. At the same time, we have to take them seriously, because they’re a threat. But I know you know that! Thanks.
